guy up to road for me used to rally minis etc etc and his garage is sitting a mini pick-up that he will not sell and a 1968 morris cooper 998cc its all there all stamped all geniunie and the documents etc want 1k for (well wants more but due to the old man nowing him and both biegn mini fanaticts let it go for less ) butt!!..... its been re-shellled in 1980 odd its got a mk3 on it now
soo do you think its worth it??
the shell is in good condition with only a hole in the boot its got the cooper interioir to go with it and the proper wheels etc etc.
in0 seeing as its been re-shelled its not worth half as much as a mk2 shell would be and by the time i finished id only probs brake even if i was to sell but i wouldnt want to see!:L and i now it would be a true cooper but at then end of the day id be 17 with a mk2 cooper reallyy
its been dried stored since 1982 just after its re-shell it runs and is complete
so was just wondering what you lot thought about it really
1000 pound aint to bad for any mini now as the prices have risen quite a bit so seriousyl considering it

What a shame it's been reshelled. The purists would have difficulty accepting the Cooper as is and even if you could find a half decent MK2 shell to transfer over, the "geniune" aspect of the car has been lost forever. It's a Cooper by logbook only. If on the other hand you bought the car for what it is and can live with that fact then 1K sounds reasonable. There's a MK2 Cooper for sale at the moment which has been totally rebuilt and has a price tag of over 14K. Wishfull thinking. 9k max I would have thought. Standard Cooper 998 wheels are standard steel 3 1/2 inch basic Mini wheels by the way.

Worth pointing out, if it says cooper on the log book and your only 17 then insurance may be a tad mental...
Then again a 998 mini with cooper bits (effectively what it is now) for 1k isnt too bad!

yer ino realise that in noo way would it be geniuine would never think as bieng one but at least when it as badged cooper it got the esence to it not like some ive seen that dont even have that about them
and like i said the money bahh aint important id just have a nother mini proudly siting on my drive and even tho it would be missing the sliding windows and external hinger the thing that makes it a proper mk2 its still a solid car at a reasnoble price which would be taz exempt and i would be able insure due to the age and keep as standard as [possiblee
i cant really see a reason not to go for it apart from the fact ino its not a real cooper but then neither is my mayfair a mayfair and its 0nly 1k the best i can find for that price or cheeper are shells or rust buckets that would be out of our experiance range as neither can weld
their also youger that 25yrs meaning no classic insurance and a premium that way to high for mee

A car doesnt have to be over 25 years to be on a classic policy, just find a better insurer But I get what your saying. As you said yourself, a solid 998cc Mini for sensible money

I don't now what ur worried about. At that price u should be jumping at it!! Who cares that it's been reshelled, it's a cooper on the log book and only fanatics will tell the difference. To the untrained eye it's a cooper. Imagine how good a restored 68 mini will look sitting on ur drive! Go for it! And try and convince him to sell that pick up
