Can anyone recommend anywhere for chrome plating? Trying to work out whether it would be cheaper to get things re-chromed or buy from new/second hand. Thanks.

Hmmmm. That's a tough one. Re-plating, or Re-chroming is fairly expensive from what i have heard. If the parts that you want Re-chroming are no longer made, well there is the argument to have them done. But, i suspect that replacement chromed parts are still available for your age of Mini. The only problem is that unless it is an Original (OE) part, chances are the chrome finish is not as good as the original.

i have bought new chrome parts for my mini now for 3 seasons running, ie wing mirrors, boot light, petrol caps, bumpers etc and am contemplating getting my old ones rechromed to a higher standard to what they are new, which in the long run will save me money and they will be far better the platers that i have used before for the chrome work on my triumph stag is ' S & T CHROME PLATING ' just up from the 7 bridge a place called YATE

Got to agree with Gar on this one, all the aftermarket bits of chrome I've ever bought don't seem to last long at all before rusting away and that is all down to the quality of the chrome plating. If you can find a good Chrome re-plating company then I would spend that little bit extra and use them - It will be cheaper and better in the long run!
