you and your mini history

Since I were old enough to drive along the way I've owed 15 of the little gems some good some bad some very bad the last one prior to the 40 was a Clubman 1275GT in chocolate brown with a white roof well tuned and sorted mostly by a previous owner then tweeked a little by me to improve it to my satisfaction aaaaaaaah the fun and memories with that one .. probably the best 1275 GT Mini in the world then after years of faithful service I'm sad to say it became ill and died then after donating it's organs, went to recycle heaven (sounds better than scrapyard)


this is what I've owned over the years
3 Clubman 1275 GT's (Silver/White/Brown),1 Minivan(Green)
.. 7 thou's - 2 Red 1 of blue/white/green/orange/amber the red blue and green ones were tweeked a little ,, 2- 850cc 1- Red 1-Biege 1 Clubman 1100cc/Red with Denovo wheels/tyres great run flat idea if you had a puncture but they were terrible for road noise and handling and expensive to replace.
and the one I have now a '99 Mini 40 LE

may just have gotten no 16 a 97 Cooper to be the daily runabout watch this space for confirmation

got it friends It's a John Cooper BRG/White Reg is R613 DDW needs some minor work doing to get it back to former glory but no worries on that as slowly does it

Update on the 97 Cooper

Oh Boy after stripping out the interior to sort out the passenger floor pan I discovered hidden rusting that some kind person just Glassed over so off to the welders she went, I wish I could weld as that would have saved me a bundle but hey ho she should be back shortly and then the new custom interior will be fitted and then back on the road

I was never really interested in them although my father used to tell me about his, then when I was 14 my parents bought one as a daily for work, from then on I've loved them (and hated) when I was 16 we reshelled her mini into a brand new BMH shell with the intention of it being my first car how ever we decided it was to good a car and the risk of me crashing it was to high. So then I bought my flame red which I drove daily for 4 years before it got taken off the road for its rebuild. During its rebuild I bought a 2000 cooper sport to keep me on the road, and it was a terrible car. I had nothing but problems with it and then the rust killed it. I also bought a equinox but never put it on the road, just sold it. I've also got my 73 van (long term project). For the last 9 months the game had been back on the road


And during this time I have also done 2 complete restorations on minis for my now ex girlfreind, she crashed the first one and as far as I'm aware she still has the second one

after weeks and weeks of trying to put me of buying one my rents gave up and gave into my oppssession and finally got my mayfair from one of the guys on here!!

wen i got it it had a 1275 metro and for insurance purposes i changed it to a 998cc with a stage changed all the interior and got it to how i wanted it and very happy with it a lil things that could have been bettre but shes a daily drive and still only 17 so still a high risk summing might happen to her but i love her

and then yesterday i got my hands on a lovly 68 cooper!! granted shes got the wrong shell on her its still a cooper at the end of the day and is now in the process of bieng completly stripped sheel have a proper resto and will take as long as it takes but i love it !!!

one day ill hopefully get my hands on a van or pick-up

My father used to be very big into his minis. When I was young I used to love going out in his as it always felt really fast and I used to enjoy the bumpy ride. However he then moved onto other projects.
For my 13th birthdya my father gave me a 1989 jet black that he had lying around the yard. I hadn't really decided what I was going to do with it and a few years later a man offered to buy it off me. I was going to sell it but I thought the price he offered was a bit low and for what the car was, it would be a great loss if I accepted the offer. I then decided to restore the car with my father and use it as my first car.
After watching the italian job again and when my brother took me down the road for a quick blast in my fathers old mini, it wasn't long before I caught the mini bug again. I am now mini obsessed !
My car is now nearly on the road and I took it for it's first drive yesterday which was brill. I wouldn't change my car for anything. Not even a supercar

I've always liked Mini's as far back as I can remember.. Think it had something to do with the fact that I used to go on holidays to Aberystwyth.. and there would always be students driving around in them.. Then when I was about 10 my fathers friend gave me one, for free .. a burgundy City E.. dont really remember a lot about it, though I remember selling it to a bunch of yobs for £50..

I never bothered after that.. then I found out the guy who had a garage next to my father had rebuilt one.. (I was about 13/14 at the time) with a 1.3 turbo engine.. he took me out in it and I loved every moment of it.. So then my father bought me a Clubby Estate for the grand sum of £150.. long story short I had to sell it..

So then it comes onto the blue Mayfair aka the rot box.. we wont go into that..

And now I've got Pac Man.. and as much as he irritates me I do love him to bits

i've always thought minis are cool cars. but when i was 14 a kid in my 6th form had one and i thought that was a wicked first car to have. then for a few years i didnt really pay attention to them. until callum and sam got minis and encouraged me to get one, so when i did i got the 1972 austin 850 mk3. and the rover mini studio 2. sold the 850 because the floor had rotten. but i remember being 6 years old and there being a red mini at the bottom of my street and was one of the coolest cars on my street.

minis were in family blood when passed test, mum, dad 2 brothers and me all had minis, had about 6 over time went onto other makes for a while, about 20 years, now back in the fold with 3 minis in differing state of repair,

Update on my John Cooper MPI

it will be back from the welders shop tomorrow that will leave the new interior to fit and it'll be ready for the road ,,,, marvelous ;D
