Just a quick one.
How often should the timing chain be done?
If i was to pay a garage how long should it take an experienced mechanic.
Thinking about getting mine done.
The previous owner told me it had been done in 2008. Looked at the paperwork today. the part number and mileage on the paperwork didnt make sense (as mileage said 105730 which is more than mines done).
Turns out the receipt i have is for a timing belt for a citreon ax.
So my car could probably benefit from one im not a brave enough mechanic to do it myself. heh.
I can follow instructions well though. how hard is it?

Is it making a noise I've never had problems with mine in the past

no noise nope. running well. Just wondering how often it should be done. Most timing belts are usually 80K or ten years. Is a chain far stronger hence doesn't need it until starts to sound off?

My Cooper is 12 years old with 70k miles and i've never changed the timing chain. The only thing that tends to go is the tensioner.
