Found out my Mini only has a standard 1275 head on it, due to a head gasket scare on the previous stage 4 head which turned out to be a cracked rocker post?
The boy is offering to sell me the stage 4 head and rockers but wants me to make an offer.. what should I offer? And how hard is it to change rocker posts?

I'd like to know how a rocker post managed to get cracked.  Possibly a bit heavy handed with the torque wrench at a guess. Rocker posts are very easy to change, but make sure the replacement post is of the same type size height etc. A stage 4 head is heavily modified and should have larger inlet and sometimes, exhaust valves. Has the head got these mods.? If not, is it a Stage 4 head.?? Caveat Emptor. |

I havent seen the head yet So I cant be certain. But the boy assures me it is.. which you'd expect with a 'race built engine' I know it used to have a heatwrapped LCB perhaps it was of a larger bore? And maybe the inlet manifold I have (the one I had leakage problems with) was leaking as its bigger than the standard head inlets? I wondered why the post cracked myself..

Ask for pics of the head. Rocker posts are a simple thing to change, can't say iv heard of one cracking before  |

Right hes going to send me pictures of the head and rockers tomoro  What difference does it make changing the rockers? he reckons their thinner than standard ones? |

Any markings or name on the rockers Ry.?
They are not standard and look similar to Keith Dodd rockers. I'll give you £20 for them, cash.

Do you just undo the pin on the end of the rocker shaft slide everything off then put other posts onto the new one?

Rockers wont really be much use to me Dai.. too much hassle for me.. dunno if your your interested?
