hiya! just been to view a 1996 mini sprite 1275, in hope of swopping with my renault clio. car is mechanically sound, just passed an mot. thing is, its had the sills welded and it may have to have 2 new doors. is it worth me swopping my car for it? it also has the rust on the obvious places. ahhhh do i do it!  ??     |

For what it's worth the N plate 1996 Mini's had the best bodywork / shells of that era.
After that the quality of the shells was poor to say the least.
The doors can obviously be changed without too much problem, but it looks as if the wings under the headlight will need a bit more work.
At least it has a full MOT which gives you a chance of doing some rolling repairs.
Without having a closer look and checking for rust in the scuttle and companion bin areas I can't add any more advice .

well, i paid 2790 for clio. and this woman is selling he rmini for 2000. but i dont think its worth it. ah sod it. it will be something to play around with.  something to work with  |

that mini is not worth 2000. not a chance in a hell. most they could get out of that is 1300???

haha thats what my dad said! they have it advertised else where for 2,200!!!
but saying that, my car is only worth bout 1300 too.
im just worried that im going to have to spend alot on it. like the sills have been patched up, but id rather get new. and the doors, the owner said she was going to get two new ones. but is there anyway of saving them without removing them?

If you can get it for under 1.5 I would because of the m.o.t , can't be much rust near structural bits of the car for it to have passed the mot , but without seinng it in the flesh none of us can truely say if its worth it , all I cam say is that 2000 is far to much ,,

aye i know. well we thinking of swopping cos my car aint worth more than 1400. ah well. aslong as my insurance is ok i might aswell do it. poor mini needs some tlc

as long as you know someone who would happily weld most parts for you then go for it. but if you are worried about spending loads of money on it, then dont do it, because you'll have to spend at least a grand to get that up to a tidy shape.
