Driving my mini today and realised on full throttle it bogs down a lot and its forever backfiring , anybody have any idea on my problems , I was thinking to little or to much fuel and check timing :-$ apart from that I'm puzzled

No need to have a garage do it Loosen the securing bolt on the dizzy shaft so that you can only just turn the dizzy and with the engine running, turn the dizzy slightly in one direction. If the engine sounds "rougher" turn the dizzy in the opposite direction back to where it was then on by the same amount again. You should find that the dizzy can be turned through 10-20 degrees while the engine still runs. Once you have found this "segment" your perfect timing point is somewhere in the middle of it. The trick then is to keep tweeking the dizzy little by little to get the engine performing correctly. That position should be between the points where the engine backfires at revs and where you can hear it "pinking" at revs. A short road trip after each adjustment of the dizzy will soon tell you when you have found the "sweet spot" Finally.........remember to re-tighten the dizzy securing nut! Another tip, once you have got the engine running correctly, is to put a white paint mark across from the engine block onto the dizzy shaft so you can always get back to that datum position in the future! Have fun! ;D
