As with some jobs on a Mini Ry, it's having the knack. It isn't a complicated job, but it has to be done a certain way. It's a long while since I've done that job and I'm not sure, without actually doing it, what the knack is/was. I think the window winder has to be wound half way down, then the whole winder mechanism is unscrewed from the door with the window still in place. Then the winder mechanism is allowed to drop down, giving you enough room to wind the window all the way up which lets the guides (small wheels) come off the main guide on the bottom of the window. The winder mechanism will have to be jiggled slightly to get both wheels off the main guide. You then have to guide the glass upwards at an angle, front edge first, up between the inner and outer doorskins having taken off both the chrome / rubber glass seals. The glass comes out on the outside of the door. As the good old Haynes manual says, Refitting is the reversal of the removal method. ;D
Come to think of it, it could be the rear of the glass that comes out first, at an upwards angle, because of the rubber seal in the top of the door frame which may cause the glass to jam in place.
