Hi all I recently changed my MPI engine for a low mileage one from a similar model all the original electrics were used and a new LCB and Lambda sensor fitted when I started the motor it just will not tick over below 3000rpm I have cleaned the idle sensor and checked all the wiring and all appears ok if I disconnect the idle sensor the car will not fire I tried taking out the sensor with it still connected to the loom and again it will not run it will run if just pushed the sensor back into position it will start and again run at very high revs this has me Bamboozled to what the problem may be the only thing different is the routing of the lambda sensor cable from the passenger-side to the drivers side to enable the lambda sensor to be connected this was removed from the trunking with great care to a point where the plugs would meet and re-taped so does anyone have an idea what may be wrong any help or suggestions would be very welcome ,,,, many thanks for reading best regards to alll Tony(aka musicmutt)

Nothing wrong after replacing the engine it will run at around 3000rpm for around 50-60 secs, that gives the ecu time to reset itself and all the sensors, it should return to around 800rpm after that.

Ok Guys got the problem sorted it was an air leak as suggested and that is what I also thought it might be ,, this is what I did to find the leak ,, as I did not have any carb cleaner to hand I used WD40(not recommended but it worked) and sprayed it around the pipes and the manifold flanges and listened for a change in engine note and sure enough the problem was found at the manifold flange so I removed the manifold and the LCB replaced the m-gasket with a new manifold gasket and some instant gasket/sealer to make sure re-fitted the manifold and LCB and that solved the problem with a nice steady tick over at 900 RPM so a big thank you to those who responded with advise/help best regards Tony
