Well ..... I tackled the pedal box after work today and I can't believe I was concidering getting a garage to do it , its quite a straight forward job to be honest :-) Managed to remove all dash parts needed to drill the two sheer bolts out that secure the column to the body and undone all electrical conections to the wheel. Also removed all the interior because I had a leak and it was getting smelly , I am going to borrow a drill off my dad tomorrow and buy an extra long 8mm metal drill bit. Once therlse are drilled and chisled out then the column will come off giving me access to the bolts that hold the pedal box to the body . Once off I can then put all components from old onto the new one , Fix to car , Connect clutch , Connect switches and sensors etc And away to go , Here are some pics Stripped out interior And pictures of where the pedal box had fractured , this bit actualy disconnected from the main part of the pedal box . Not a bad days work :-)

Haha I had to put the clutch pedal on the mini the other day , damn it was tight :-0 Good idea jd I would have forgotten about that :-) I don't see how on earth the pedal boxes can be let out of the factory in the condition they are in , the welds are pure pants ! :-0

Is there any way of strengthening the welds on the new item now before you refit everything into the car Gav It may stop you having to do the same job again in the future jd

The new ones are revised items , they say they have cured it now and don't sell the old ones so if I think it looks strong enough in it goes but if it looks weak, welding some 10mm x 10mm box section into the edge should strengthen it nicley :-) Once this is done I've just got to get the garage to do the cambelt and water pump. And a better anti roll bar as mine has pretty much snapped , and it should be good for a fair few thousand miles of happy driving

Well just purchased a roll of faux suede :-) will be retrimming the headlining , inner rear quarters. , centre console and door cards should add abit of prestirge and luxury to the interior, and cut down on the visible uchy plastic :-) Also have 2 tins of plastic primer a tin of gloss black , mars red and 2 tins of laquer , as the interior is out I'm giving it a mega make over :-) Seat covers are off and going through the wash ,
Some good picks to follow when finished o
