I have recently moved house and with it I have a new garage.. Great i thought new place to stash the mini in the dry.
But turns out garage is very damp..
The roof I have sealed but water is physically Seaping through the walls. Its not rising damp but just penetrating water. Then once the waters in there its like a sauna and very humid. Not a good place to keep the car. Keeping the mini at my rents garage for now but would ultimately like to get it in my own..
As this house is not owned by me im looking for a relativly cheap and easy fix. I'm thinking paint the garage with some decent exterior waterproofing paint?
Any recommendations? Tips on keeping a dry garage? Not gonna knock it down and rebuild sorry..

There is a dedicated water seal type paint for brickwork/concrete which I've used in the past and works well. Look in Screwfix for "Thompsons Water Seal" 5 ltrs for £16. Be sure to fill any cracks or gaps up before that tho. Its not a filler!!! Good luck jd

You can get large dehumidifiers but they aren't cheap.. Also you could fit draft excluder to the edges of the garage door. If it's humid outside, it'll stop the damp horrible cold air getting in to a degree. (once you've sorted the existing damp problem of course)

Is it block or stone built.? Is the ground level outside higher than the floor of the garage.?

get a de-humidifier i bought mine for quite cheap, and it made a difference, lasted a good few months too.

thanks guys. I reckon if i get round to it ill paint the outside with that waterseal paint. It is slightly sunk into the ground about the first 2 layers of blocks from the bottom but most of the water is coming in through the walls not up through the ground at the bottom. If you saw it you would agree. My landlord (cousin) would be chuffed if i painted it too. Heh.
Dehumidifier... maybe... First i need an electricity supply though...

That Water Seal is a clear liquid and has no colour to it. The wall shouild look just the same after treatment. Nothing to stop you painting over the top of it tho if you wanted to. ;D jd

you could use bitchemen on the walls and floor inside also , this would stop any water coming in
