thought i would put this up on here jsut incase for the guy Dear all, I appeal to anyone in the Bristol area, and those outside too as my beloved Mini Mayfair Red w/white bonnet stripes was stolen between Sunday 11th March and Today (Wednesday 14th March) from York Place in Clifton, Bristol. Here's a photo of her: Edit :- image failed to work so link in stead www.theminiforum.co.uk/forums/index.php?app=core&module=attach§ion=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=123880She has a distinctive S shaped chrome dragon on the boot, 'MINI' mudflaps, white side mirrors, cream and red faux leather interior, a Fusion amp in the boot, underseat speakers and rear speakers. Moutney wooden steering wheel and gearstick. Cream dashboard. A lot of time and love went into this mini, so I would love to see her returned safely. However, as I parked a little way up the road, I haven't checked her since Sunday when I used her last, and subsequently, she could have gone missing at any point between then and now. I don't have much hope. But if you could all keep an eye out that would be great. Also if you see anyone selling a two-piece speedo set, with just over 77000 miles on the clock, as well as any of the other things listed above, please contact me. Many thanks Michael

This would probably be a good time to get all forum members to think about fitting an alarm unit/immobiliser or at the least some cut out switches, dummy flashing LED light and 'alarm fitted' window stickers. I wonder if that guy in Bristol had anything like that fitted given that he was parking his Mini well away from his house. Maybe it would have still been there if he had removed the rotor arm or fitted a battery cut off screw down terminal. None of those would stop a determined thief with a trailer or car transporter tho. It seems that nothing is safe on the roads these days.

yea its a shame im trying to take precautions with my mini ready for when it is ready but struggling to find the info about the trackers im after so its hard but still like you said nothing will stop these people. but did read about an atempted robbary in midlands where the guy had sercirty light and 4 doberman dogs which werent happy and he let them out and they chased 4 polish people but he said they wouldnt have goten past his electric garage door or the electric gates and the rasing bolard he had in his drive even if they found the keys which were in his unlocked mini next the the lambo

There are a couple of "Tracker" type deals on ebay one of which I am seriously considering fitting to at least one of my projects. The one I looked at does not have an annual fee unlike the more well known Tracker device.
I'll have to try and find it again and post the link up.
Your insurance will also be cheaper with a "tracker" fitted which is certainly an incentive.

As I found out if they want it they will take it. Mine was towed away! A tracker has got to be the best solution

but then with the window stickers they could make more mess and mroe damage looking for it if they know it has one most probably wont put them off because they could find it once they have it. best to keep it a secret . and arlarms they are easily disabled

Anti theft measures fall into 2 groups ..... Prevention or deterrence.
Prevention is achieved by immobilising your Mini - Immobiliser, cut out switches, battery isolation, steering locks, wheel clamps or critical parts removal.
Deterrence is providing a visual indication to make it obvious that the Mini has an alarm, tracker, flashing LED or other anti-theft devices fitted....... anything that will make the 'casual' car thief or 'joyrider' go look for an easier 'target'

i park mine on the drive and park another car in front of the drive. so its got a slim chance of being towed away, and it cant be started with the immobiliser on. and my crazy yellow steering wheel lock thing. haha.

I used to whip one of my plug leads if I left it anywhere really dodgy... With my megajolt system even if they brought along a spare Mini HT lead it'd be no good to them anyway And of course my... *cough* Immobiliser...
