Thanks Dai, the only thing is due to the shape of the arch and the contours I really should have done it in 3 or 4 bits because when I was trying to manipulate the steel into shape it jsut didn't want to go. Could really have done with some heat. Ahh well, at least it's done for a while now.

Thanks Phil, perhaps I was being too critical of my own work, after all it is a 39 year old car. We'll call it patina. . The photos do look good though. It was painted in cellulose though so you can do what you like with the stuff. It really will cut right back depending how much work you want to put into it. No having to worry about going through the laquer, just gotta be careful with the edges.

Thanks guys, It'll be nicer when I paint the roof white. I can then concentrate on sorting the interior. I may have an answer to that as well, I'll have to have a look and post the result. I just may have a suitable set of leather kicking about (Ssssssshhhhhh mustn't tell just yet)

Dai, I took it out for a quick spin yesterday with 2 normal tires on one side and 2 cross plys on the other. Haha. Celtic tyres in the morning and we're away.

Just fitted the other wheels so I am now rolling on decent tires. So I decided to try the figaro seats for size. There is about 1 inch alongside the door pocket and about 2 inches alongside the handbrake. They will need a recover at some point as that was the reason they were taken out of the figgy. All that remains is to make a subframe adaptor, what you think?

Hmmm. Those seats look to be really comfortable. Making subframes shouldn't be a problem for a chap with your talents.

Haha, ta m8. They are super comfortable, there is a nicer set in the figaro, I plan to put a Snap-On seat cover or similar on the driver seat then in the new year, get the full set recovered and put em back in the fig then use the figaro ones in the elf cos with the new roof and paint job on the figgy it needs show class seats to finish it off and the finish on the elf was never meant to be show class just nice and aged so it should fit in nicely. Then just to get a set of door cards done in cream vinyl or leather and a fresh set of dark carpets. I'll keep the original wheels and interior for the next owner when I eventually move it on. Anyone want first dibs. ;D ;D ;D Don't worry she's not going for a while yet

Right, a bit of an update. Last month I was playing with the electrics trying to sort out the horn and fuel gauge, I stripped the fuse box out to clean up the terminals etc and when reassembled, I drove her back in the garage. When I was runnning it in the garage it cut out and I thought it may be empty of fuel (no gauge) so I stuck a fiver in and proceeded to turn the battery down. I assumed the pump was knackered due to no fuel being delivered so was on the look out for a new one. Anyway, I got her up on a set of stands yesterday and found 12volts at the pump but no fuel being delivered so I took it off and stripped it down. I found out it has been changed for an electronic one so no worry about buying new points etc so opened up the other end and opereated the diaphragm a few times and rebuilt it and it now runs sweetly. Only problem is I have a pourous steel fuel line so I need to cut some out and replace it with some fuel line. I'll try to get a few pics later.

Right then, sorted out my fuel leak, I had to cut out the bad pipe below, Then replace with new braided petrol pipe as below, Then adjust both inlet and outlet pipes on the pump by loosening off the screws and adjusting the angle as below, Then it looked like this below,

Probs one of the worse jobs I've had to do in a long time Dai, doesn't help laying on your back either, now I have lost the use of my m8's lift. His garage is up for sale due to ill health, although on a brighter note my Dad has purchased a four poster and will be setting it up this week after he shifts his project merc up my house out of his garage to clear the space he needs to assemble it.
