can you imagine if the rover- Honda partnership had lasted longer they could have easily done this as a production car, well Honda could have not sure if rover could.
mind you it might have been a safty issue, production minis capble of 0-60 in 4 seconds and top speeds of 150+ MPH

sorted the rack clearance issue today does mean i have to use a universal joint and lower the column to get it back to standard height but I'd much rather that than moving the rack and using longer arms etc on the hubs as it throws the geometry off

LJ, you certainly don't just go with the flow do you, it seems you like a challenge!!!! Seriously impressed thpugh. BTW what are we meant to be looking at above as I can't make out what has been done from the pic?

LJ, you certainly don't just go with the flow do you, it seems you like a challenge!!!! Seriously impressed thpugh. BTW what are we meant to be looking at above as I can't make out what has been done from the pic? yeah i should have explained it better, with this conversion the diff hits the steering rack. alto of people either move the engine forward ( not really an option unless you have a clubman) or move the rack downwards but this causes bump steer and messes up the steering geometry. so what i decided to do was keep the rack in the same place but rotate it until the bottom of the rack was parallel with the diff and this allowed enough clearance. it does mean i have to alter the steering column height a bit and have a universal joint to join it to the rack but it think i prefer this option than playing around with suspension. in the pic you can see rack and the diff and how I've had to cut a section of the toe board out to allow the rack to turn

not really much to report but today i removed the fuel sender from the civic tank and modded it to fit where the original mini one does.
it was very straight forward and im pleased with the result, will post some pics when i get chance.
this having to projects on the go has proved to be enjoyable, when ever i get fed up of one i distract my self with the other. still want both done by july but the van is the main priority as its hogging most of the garage space

that looks like an awsome prodject thanks sadly i only get chance to do a tiny bit of work now and then on it, it was suposed to have been finished last summer the building the frame was the easy part now i got to try get every thing else to fit in the engine bay and get a custom rad made. maybe if the club do a rolling road day next year it might be finished and get put on the rollers

now that the van isn't a priority expect some progress soon,
we've arranged to use the lathe in a local engineering company to cut and weld the drive shafts. My father previously being a tool maker has its upsides ;D
hope fully tomorrows job will be removing the sump to cut a corner out for tie bar clearance.

managed to do a bit today, i was gonna attack the sump but ended up cutting a rather large hole in the bulkhead to allow the inlet manifold to fit.
also I've got it in my head that i should fit the engine in to the cooper now as it already has the correct fuel pump/tank and a nice interior and many other things. it could make a good stealth mini
