Ok so i know my cooper was going to be my rally car, but last friday my dad called over a friends house only to be greeted with a little mini round the side of the garage, to cut a long story short, £250 later and saturday morning a delivery lorry pulled up to my house with the mini on the back.
After quick inspection, everything i bought for the cooper at the mini show in january is already on the car, its a 1000cc engine, stage 1 kit, polybushed all round, fiberglass flip front, f/g boot, some funky old skool bucket seats and a 1960's police car paint job, unfortunately all the money spent under the body wasn't applied to the paintjob......its poo!!! so over the last week i've been sanding down the paint (2days on the roof alone!!!) ready for a respray in OEW. I plan on making the arches easily changable for shows aswells as the bucket seats, as I have to have standard arches for rallying and FIA buckets, but they wont suit the style of the car.
Anyway the car is from cardiff mini club so if anyone knows the car or has info on it let me know, so here are the pics....
oh and can anyone recap my memory on what the alloys are please as i cant put a name on them off the top of my head.

the last lot of pictures is some of the work i've been doing, basically getting rid of what rust there is and removing the surface rust from here there and everywhere, sanded down the roof and covered over the aerial hole as i'm not gonna be needing it.
There are going to be a few custom touches even though it is a rally car, like the custom roof liner i'm going to make, dash liner, trim for the dash rails.....

right, so last week I took my little one to butlins so couldnt work on the car, but my dad cracked on, during the week after work he managed to sort the clutch slave cylinder which sorted the clutch problem, he changed the rear brake cylinder and changed the brake lines on the passenger side as one snapped when removed, he fitted new shoes too. So I started work on it yesterday and welded in a drivers side floor, also started spraying the rollcage, got through the priming then started spraying gloss black but dont think it looks that good so am now going to spray it the same colour as the car. Today I am going to be patching a couple of holes and then continue with sanding the body down.
pics to follow..........

well i'm hoping it will be on the road within the next month or so.
there was a miss in the when we started it up saturday night but my dad changed the plugs and it sorted it but the mixture is still out. Also patched a couple of holes, got one in the rear arch and one bit under the scuttle and then thats the welding sorted, alot of under seal and then i think a respray will be next on the cards

Nice one. Looks to be a straightforward job. Won't be long before it's roadworthy.

Also spent abit too much time on ebay..... rally map light, early ashtray also saw this awesome looking steering wheel, listed as 70's mini steering wheel...... but when it came and i tried fitting it the threads are about 2-3mm to small to fit the mini so was slightly gutted.

UPDATE: Ok been flat out with the car lately and basically its ready to be sprayed.... Decided not to use the fiberglass boot as itsareally bad fit and didnt look too good, so i'm using a spare metal one that i have, but keeping it as a mk1 style so smooth the light holes My dad found an old vinyl roof he had laying around so that will be going on the car too. heres a pic of it on the car but not stuck down yet, the front endwas unbelievably flimsy so we decided to strengthen it by adding more fiberglass but just before we started my dad found off cuts of thin sheet metal so we cut them up then added them, the front is alot less flimsy now. then i decided to give the spray gear a practise run to see how it works, so sprayed the under side of the front end in some old ford orion blue colour my dad had, haha.
