Jamie Jones has recently passed his test so may be able to help you.
I'd ring a few of the companies in the mini mags,
I've seen what they charge younger drivers these days and its usually more than the value of the car .
Good luck and let us know who you go with.. could be a recommendation for other young drivers..

Im 18 and with yes insurance paying £900 for a 1 litre best time to get a quote is at the very end of the month (usually cheaper because of the amount of renewals)
Your best bet is to do a quote with comparethemarket.
What capacity is it on the log book at the moment ?

dont forget AGREED VALUE!!!!!!!!
No agreed value, means your screwed in an accident and it will definitely be a write off (book prices for Minis is between £250 and £300...)

Although I believe to be eligible for 'Agreed Value', your Mini will probably need to be garaged overnight. Or at least parked on a drive? At least that's how it goes with my insurers anyway.

Insurers will use any excuse to not pay out if they can. So I really wouldn't give them an excuse. Mind you it does worry me as to where we'd stand if our Minis are parked overnight at a campsite or a Travelodge?

the estimated value for a mini is 2-300 ? Yes I'm sure it varies on condition and age? Either way you'd have a whole load of grief fighting to get a bigger pay out if you don't have agreed value on any Mini. You'd have to prove to the uncaring insurers that a Mini is worth a few bob, via the ads at the back of the Mini Magz etc. But even then, you'd probably loose out compared to what you'd be entitled to if it was properly insured thanks to an agreed value policy.

yep. ive no idea where it would stand if it were nicked from anywhere other than your drive...
when my car got ran into i needed a new door (only a new door), they said new heritage doors including fitting and labour and spraying is around £250. then they showed me the car value guide and for a austin mini city e it was 300. they really dug their heels in, and we had to really dig our heels in to even get the car back as they wanted to write it off....
(for the cost of a door...)
hence. agreed value is more important than even getting insurance in the first place...

best off adding the mods to the policy mate... if your in a bigger than average accident they will send off pics from the compound, meaning your not going to be able to change them back.. then youll have no legal cover, no car, no payout for injuries and no pay out for the car, and if the accident is your fault you'll have to pay out to the other person from your own pocket.....
worth it for a set of wheels, roll-cage and seats?

Also going under parents names isnt such a good idea because most of the time you dont get the no claims bonus which means you will be stung year after year ...
best off going with someone that gives you no claims but add your rents as additional drivers , more expensive to start but it will pay off in the long run

Jamie passed his test last month aged 17, I searched everywhere and the best we could find was Tesco insurance, in his mothers name, fully comp for £1300. £250 excess, it's valued with them for £1000 , They will also transfer his no claims after the first year.

gees! whatever hapens im gonna be stung in the ass! well on my mums fiesta 1.2 they were trying to get me to pay 4500! but then you get random low ones for like 1500! think i better just keep hunting till the end of the month, but save the quotes.
minis are suprisingly cheap on insurance
