i didnt mean that to sound as harsh as it did the topic of heated manifolds has wound me up for years thanks to the likes of the kids on TMF who dont know any thing but insist heated adds power never mind i gave up arguing with them.

Not "harsh" at all lj. Just goes to prove that we are all never too old to learn something. ;D

Just got it back from the garage. Looks like the drivers side is no longer leaking but the passenger side is . I don't get it. It was dry when I left the garage, all the roads were dry, yet it's still coming in. The wet trail is in the grooves of the floor suggesting it is coming in from the box section under the seats. Btw what's under there? Any pipes? Could water be coming in under there? Or could it just be water that was just sitting there and only now turning up due to the car being driven? Any suggestions? Thanks

Could be what you suggest, water that was already in the box section (seat crossmember). Park it nose down to try and drain any water that's still in the nooks and crannies. There's only fresh air and fluff in the seat crossmember.

Wel what an eventful day. Me and my mate got there about 2 o clock and only just got back home. He seems to have done a good job. He did a pressure test first to check for any leaks or a dodgy head gasket etc which it passed with no probs. He said that my dizzy might need refurbishing as it could be running better than it is but nothing to worry about. Apparently it was running super rich low down, weak at mid point and pretty good at the top. It was so rich that it was off the scale, it should be between 2 and 4 CO while mine was over 10CO . Anyway to cut a long story short its running at 52.5bhp. I think thats a bit ambitious as at standard the car should put out 42bhp and the stage 1 increases by 20% so 50bhp is more likely. Can definatly feel the extra power when going up hills and it was doing 70mph quite comfortably which it never did before. All in all very happy. Anyway ive board you enough. Hers the printout.

Looks like money well spent. Rolling roading a Mini is the only sure way to get the fuelling spot on especially when mods have been done. I'll bet the Mini was a different beast driving home.

The boys who fitted the stage 1 for me fitted the needle as well, the one that comes in the stage 1 kit with minispares. I assume Tom has then filled it down if it needed it.

Ie it really was. It didnt feel all that different low down but at overtakin speeds it was a different car. Accelaration from 60 was non existant before but it now climbs really well.

Ah ok, so it must still be running rich at the bottom end then ?

Because you can't make a needle leaner, only richer by turning it down.

oh ok makes sence. Well when he saw the richness he took the air filter off and fiddled about there for a while. Wish i could tell you what he was doing but dont have a clue lol. He also fiddled with the rpm at tickover.

aslong as it runs well + you happy all that matters at end of the day, let the fun begin Absolutly. I never put the stage 1 on for high end performance anyway. Just wanted that extra bit of power to cope with modern traffic and for something to actually happen when i put my foot down .
