Will need some more info on this one ! Could be anything like running out of petrol, no spark, points gap, engine flooding, lectrickery breakdown etc Is it still there? Can you get it back home any way?

traced it back to no spark and looks like the its the condenser in the dizzy following the info from heynes
and yer got rid of the valve so its constantly goin through it if you get me so could it be an air lock ?

Glad to see you got the loss of spark sorted then. If I think there is an airlock I jack the car up at the front or run it up on car ramps. Engine off - remove the rad cap - make sure the heater valve is open (not a problem if you have bypassed it!) Start the engine and let it idle till the engine thermostat in the cooling system opens and the engine reaches "normal" temp. If you watch the water level in the rad while this is happening you may see it drop indicating that the air from the heater has reached the rad. Top up the water in the rad and replace the cap. Check the heater to see if the pipes are hot or if there is heat coming out of where it should! That is the way I 1st run the engine after its been out or after the rad has been off and I have never had any major airlock problems. Hope it works for you

Just one more thing while you are about it ....... Check all the heater pipes from the engine bay into the car and back into the engine bay to make sure they are not bent or kinked in any way so blocking the water flow.

woooo:D more breakdowns:D:L was driving bout yesterda then i broke down woop! was on the duel between resolven and neath and all revs and everything went so pulled over waited a few mins then started her again she went like 5 feet down then road and went again:/ gott her into a lay by poped the engine everything seemed fine so tried again same thing so decided not to move. checked everything over and the coil was boiling!!! finally got it home checked everything changed the coil and she was fine so i drove her into coll today after my lesson bout and hour and half after chacked her over and the coil was warm but im not sure if it was just engine heat as when i checked after dinner about an hour later she was cool if it is the coil still getting warm any idea why??? BUT!!!! quote of the day ' glad to see you got a real mini not one of those german sh*t'

Hi mm3
The coil will get warm under normal use (think of it as a transformer for the 'lectrickery' from the battery to get HT sparks for the plugs!) and they can breakdown and cause excessive heat if they go wrong, which would fit your description of the "breakdown"
Easy answer is that if the Mini runs OK now with the replacement coil then job done!
Did you sort out your heater by the way?
