ERRR why move it? been here for weeks, its not like people are podting on general like every 10 mins. no one looks in the other sub forums much, its not tmf so cool down a bit like just keeping things tidy. things are easier to find when in the right section and they are more likely to stay at the top of the section and not get lost down the page also when people have a problem they tend to look for answers under the relative topic so by having the threads in the right place they can find similar topics easier

Yeah, I tend to just scroll down the main page opening each sub section which has an update in a new tab and then have a browse. Its much easier when things are in the right place, anyone who specialises in a certain section are more likely to look there for threads to help on..

Took a pic of the other grey socket thingy, but I can't get the radio out of the glove since I used the old glove and the keys for the new glove won't open it. Annoying problem after another....

Have you sorted it yet?
I've recently changed mine and from what I can remember, it looks like the purple will be the 12V memory (so it should always have 12V on it with ignition off). Black is generally used as the earth so (unless someone has messed about with the wiring), so that leaves the green which should have 12V when the ignition is on.
You've said that the purple has 12V on it is that with the ignition on or off?
So with the ignition on check the green is getting 12V, if its not getting 12V then try the black wire as someone might have changed the colour code of the wires if that isn't gettig 12V, then try to follow it back through the engine bay as on mine someone has put a fuse in the engine bay for it so check that has not blown. After that I guess you'd have a wiring fault somewhere.
Once you've found the 2 wires that have 12V on them (purple and one other) then check between the wires and the remaining one with a multimeter to see if the earth is connected correctly.
I hope this helps, I'm in Yorkshire for 2 weeks but after that if you want me to have a look at it some time give me a shout and I'll come round and have a look.

Thanks Jacko, a friend's dad ended up fixing it and cutting the constant and live and feeding them both into the constant, or something of the sort. (I should have listened more in science I think) Thanks guys, gonna fit some 6x9s when they come, hopefully won't sound like utter s**t like the standard Rover ones do.

Yeah that's the one, s**t myself when I left it on for a few hours naively thinking it'd be dead, it was ok when I got back though. Yeah, can't wait to get the speakers fitted, finally have two speakers instead of only one working (effectively hearing half the song) and good quality sound.
