I currently have the original tape player that came in the 35 from production, and it doesn't work for some reason... So I'm wondering under the presumption that it's just the radio head unit (hopefully) and I don't plan on using CDs, just my iPod, I won't have to buy a new big block radio thingy too will I?
Just concerned there will be some sort of compatibility issue or something with the connection at the back of the unit; especially since I'm using my MP3 player... Yes, I am massively uninformed, and I'm daunted by all these car things, haha!!
Thanks everyone. =)

When you say the radio doesnt work Sam, does it light up but not work or is it completely "dead"? Another thing to do is find out wether you have a 12v getting to the radio - look for an in-line fuse or check the fuses in the cars fusebox and see if they are 'blown'. If just the Radio part of the player works then you can play all your MP3's through the existing system by using an FM transmitter - quite cheap and easily connected and you might even be able to find a PINK one!!! ;D

Yeah but it doesn't even like turn on or anything... so I'll need a new head unit, just wondering if I'll have to buy like who WHOLE radio thing as well as the front part.

Have you checked the fuses Sam?
Would seem a waste of money to buy a whole new unit if its just a blown fuse to replace !

Sam, take a look under the dash where the radio is, trace the wires and there should be a white little cylinder, push together and twist there should be a fuse inside..replace fixed

Callum had a look today, the fuse was on the back of the CD player, and it wasn't blown. We took the radio out and I'm gonna look at getting a new CD player for something around £50. =) Maybe get some speakers too then fit in with the locals by turning down the treble and turning up the bass mega loud, with hamster dance music.

Ok, now you know that the fuse is good, did you check to see if you were getting a 12v +ive supply to the radio on the Red wire?

No, because I didn't know that, and even if I did, I wouldn't have a clue how to check that... HOW?! :L

You could check that you have a 12v supply with an electrical voltmeter, but I'm guessing you dont have one of those, or with a simple test lamp connected between the red wire and any part of the cars metal bodywork (earth or -ive ), if you have 12v there then the lamp will light up.
