Took it for a spin again earlier... Damn I really need to put in for my test again... I didnt hang about either, but twice my passenger door flung open.. think it was a case of my mate not shutting it properly though..

Unless your mate in the passenger seat was a person qualified to sit in a passenger seat with you on a 'lesson' after passing their test and you had the suitable plates on display...

Even better Best check the door carefully anywho. if it opens often youll want to sort that before you head off on a mini run/whatever lol. Then again could just be your mate like you said, Took my mates a while to grasp the whole concept.. lol.

With the handle, it looks damn similar to early Scimitar ones, the only difference is they're push button opened and not movable handle operated...You MIGHT be able to put another lock in that one, But only having experience with cars that have "Morris marina" style door handles to open, I cant honestly give you a yes or no answer, may be worth a punt though seeing if you can just retro fit locks from one to the other!

The way the door mechanism has been designed, is the MK1 inner latch, which when shuts almost acts like a dead bolt.. that is opened outside by some cabling that is connected to the door handle..

Fitted my choke, now when I get bite it doesnt stall Much better than having to rev it myself... How will I know when to put it back in though?

After 5 minutes or when the temperature needle gets between 0 and normal. ;D (Thats what I do anyway) Also for obvious reasons dont rev the engine too much until the choke is back in and the engine is nice and warm ;D

It should be put in ASAP. As soon as the engine can idle with out it, otherwise your just wasting petrol

You sure its not a leak from the carb that's running down the manifold then onto the block ? Or maybe a cracked manifold?

Hs carbs have a separate spring that attaches to the throttle arm and the carb plate.

Throttle cables work best when there are no kinks or sharp bends in them whatsoever. From that pic you could try routing the throttle cable to the right of the red oil filler cap to get a straighter entry to the carb bracket. It may be better if it were to pass to the right of the heater hose as well. If it wont stay in that position by itself use cable ties to loosely hold it there. This may seem a very small alteration but its worked well for me in the past and is a lot easier as a first step than changing the carb!.......
