Minis can be like that sometimes and I think we've all been there at one time or another Gav. Its probably the main reason why so many people move on to more "sensible" cars that don't let them down and that can be relied on for daily transport. You just have to hang on to the feeling you get when you are driving the Mini and just having fun. A "daily driver" is a necessity for some but you never get the same level of "fun" as you do from driving a Mini. and that's the "magic" that keeps bringing you back to a Mini ;D

Looks like I'm going to have to drop out the manual engine and subby, swap the engine over to my auto subframe using adaptor plates and try again, I'm so furious at my dads neighbour for coming over thinking he was an engineer ! Then he goes and destroys the thread for the tower bolt in the subby , , I've only just plumbed it all up aswell :-(

Huge thanks to Phill, he managed to save the thread with his taps :-) awsome news , so on my day off tomorrow I'm going to put solonoid on the wing and try to wire it up , attach all subframe mounts , attach choke to the carb , put on air filter , attach clutch master cylinder , bleed clutch , attach brake pipes and bleed them , flush water system , flush oil , take out colapsed cone and replace , there are probably loads of bits I've forgotten to list but I'm sure I will come across them , should keep me buizy on my 9 days off work, Verry sadly tho it looks like I'm going to have to sell the mini once all the work is finished :-( as my mum whoo gave me a loan for the car says if I sell the mini and buy a reliable car I don't have to pay her the money back , but if I keep the mini she wants me to pay the loan back , and I really don't have the money to be paying my mum back and I need a motorway car :-(my mum hates the mini because things keep braking and I cant get to work ,,,, feeling verry sad atm but what's got to be done must be done !!! :-( wish I had some money to buy a car and restoring the mini , but unless my wage doubles that is not going to happen

That's sad news Gav. In an ideal world it would be nice to keep the Mini for fun and a road car for earning the bucks. You're caught between a rock and a hard place at the moment, but maybe in the future things will change for the better and you will become a Mini owner again.

Can see why you (and your mum) are thinking that way tho Gav. Mini's are always in need of "fixing" one way or another and are not the best cars for daily motorway journeys and reliability where your job depends on them. Good to hear that the subframe issues are sorted out at least. Hope the weather is kind to you over the next couple of weeks as well.
