If I had the original mk3 rear lights on it (with two reverse lamps built in) I'd do it! Mk1 rear lights have stop and tail plus indicators..... the spot lamp is my reverse lamp. I've got to have the fog for MOT.

Yeah that's why it wouldnt work for your set-up. Reversing lights arent required for an MOT, so I wonder if you'd be able to convert the reversing lamp on the boot into a fog lamp.

are you sure about reverse lights for mot? If they're not required i.ll swap the bulb in the spot lamp.

You're correct my friend! The car's now gone into a local garage to be set up (I'm no good at trying to faff around with the weber)! So it should be on the road in less than two weeks. I've got an empty garage to prep and paint the doors which will be ready upon her return! Just got to find a red bulb now!

You can get chromed ones which light up red, so the boot lamp doesnt look red. Try fleabay. Good to hear the car's coming along! Try and get it up and running for the run on the 18th!

I doubt I'll make that one (although I'd love to). The dizzy on the car is far from up to the job of coping with the new set up so I'm fitting a Bestek electronic distributor and ignitor. Apparently its exactly the same as an Aldon kit but 75 quid cheaper! I'll keep you posted on how it performs.

The car's been rolling roaded at Mosley's in Llandeilo. Did 76bhp which is a little down on power. Vince suggested that the Weber 40 is choking the engine too much so its time for a 45! The car's huge fun to drive and turns heads at break-neck speeds. I've never laughed so much in my life driving down the road! She idles really lumpy because of the 276 cam but sounds soooo sweet. A lot of hard work that has paid off in the end.

Its not illegal Josh. You can have a 1000 watt light on the back if you fancy! And Jackdaw, never a truer word spoken!

It's not illegal to have one. But any thing more than 60/55w bulbs are.

Like a lot of other things on cars, its only illegal if you get caught !!!!! You'd have to be very unlucky to be 'done' for it on a daytime "stop" I used to run with 100/80w rally lamps in the main headlights and even bigger 150w lamps in the 4 Cibie's which came on with mainbeam. You need a bigger alternator and a good battery to do that tho When I used mainbeam it was like the Liberty Stadium switching on ! ;D Just dont go flashing any cop cars coming in the opposite direction !!!!! ;D
