It's a Sportspack so sadly rust is never far away. Doing a fine job by the way. got to agree with that these late minis are terrible for rust. sounds like your making good progress

Turned car around today to tackle passenger side and found only 2 x 1 inch holes in the inner sill and that's all ;D ;D Inside boot needs a small plate around the subframe mount so I've decided to remove the subframe and give it a good clean while I'm at it

Happy days. It's worth getting the subby off and checking the mounting panel. At least then you know the back end is spot on. Won't be long before the paint goes on.

Looks solid other than those parts... (although those are some pretty big holes..)
Taken a wire brush to the rest of it yet?

Tbh, provided its a nice enough weld and you grind it back flush before giving it a coat of stonechip or something (paint the whole thing though) then there's nothing to arise suspicions..
If it were me and I was confident I could make it nice and strong and look presentable afterwards, I'd patch it. especially if its solid elsewhere.

not 100% sure but i think m.o.t people dont pass welded subframes any more Its down to the discretion of the individual MOT Inspector. If you can prove to him that the welded repair is in fact stronger or more substantial than what was there originally, he should accept it for the MOT. Unfortunately once you start 'argueing' with the MOT guy tho, it normally means your car has failed no matter what condition its in!

Agree with the Coed. The repairs needed will be out of sight when the subby is fitted and as long as the whole subframe is rubbed down and painted to look the same then the repair will not stand out. The MOT testers "Corrosion Assessment Tool" cannot reach the repaired area.
