Nice to meet you today. I hope the mini keeps you sufficiently occupied for years to come. It's looks as good in the flesh as it does in the pics. Good luck with the engine!

Personally I would stay away from the turbo engine because although it gives you lots more power you will need to create extra space under the bonnet to fit it and the heat it produces can cause all sorts of other problems.
There are some turbo powered minis out here - but not many!
As for lots of power combined with smoothness, I think its a trade off for either or! Ive got a 1380cc engine with a 286 cam and after the conversion from a 1275 it took a while to get used to. You find you have to use the gears a lot more to get the performance cos of having to be 'on-cam' ( in the power band produced by the modified camshaft)
Tough choice! Ask lots of questions from people like MED or Mini Sport and get as much information as you can before you go for this mod!
Even then you may not like what you end up with!
I would suggest you ask advice from 'Dogmatix' on this one as he has lots of experience in this area.
Good luck
jc

no,apparantly its just been taken out of a customers car who is en elderly gent from spain who couldnt handle the power so he has gone back to a mg engine, the company who are selling the engine are based in shropshire called Leaton Mini Centre, have you heard of them?they want 925 for the engine and are willing to give me about 250 for mine.they would also swap over my 5 speed box on to the med plus then fit for about 350,somehow i have to tell a few porkies to the wife to pull this one off !!!

Sounds like a good spec. Haven't heard of the company though. What was an elderly guy doing with a 1340 in the 1st place?
Price sounds about the same as a Mini Sport conversion though I don't know how much they would charge for doing it. Maybe worth having a look at the adverts in the mags to get some comparisons.
Good luck with the porky's!

decided to put the 1340 med engine in,dropped it off in shrewsbury 10 days ago and i pick it up on friday, decided to go up by train so i can have the pleasure in driving it to derby show it off to a few mates [ the alternative was to trailer it back - nah ] and then a glorious 250 mile trek home.

You'll have a huge grin on your face for such a long time It'll turn into a permanent smile. Try explaining that to the Guvnor. Best of luck, i Hope the conversion goes smoothly for you.
