Definitely take the doors etc off... otherwise your door shuts will be a different colour!

The way to think of it is to stand back and look at all the bits you would have to mask up with tape if you didn't remove them..... remembering that any taped up edge could spoil the end paint finish ........ then to take off as much as you possibly can !

when i do all the paint work im taking the engine out and doind a referb about the compression is all over the place, im going to rebore the block to a 1.1 so a bit more power and not loads more uneconmical, my dad said the compression is out because of the rings is that right? what size pistons will i need if i go to 1.1?

You can't rebore up to 1.1 the 1.1 block is the same as a 998 they have a long stroke to increase capacity.
Lack of compression could be worn rings, bores or valve seats or a combination of all of them
You can get +80 pistons which will give you about 1060cc but at +60 you start getting head gasket problems

Replace your engine with a rebuilt 1275cc unit or just rebuild your engine with new bits to make it good and maybe "Stage 1" it

Economy and power is very hard to Achieve. If it where me id sort out the bores and compression. Fitting a cam with out a decent flowing head is a bit pointless, but if you fit it whilst the engine is striped it will be there ready for when you get a decent head to take advantage of it

Bore it to the minimum needed, the extra volume makes next to nothing difference in power. Pistons are about £60 each
