Today, Flubber felt to tarmac with all four wheels Also, Massy Fergison silver looks great on my calipers (only managed to get the one side done today) And the joys of new cones... its kinda stuck in the air haha Once the cones have settled the KN's will be going on, so will the arches. But for now, only jobs to do, are bump stops, wiring, fuel line/cooling to plumb in, fit offside caliper, tighten up 2 bolts on the rear subframe mounts, adjust tappets, fit gear selector, adjust the clutch arm, fit sump guard, and then I guess I should see if he starts.

Flubber has had some work done today First off, I am going to do it in time scale, as tracinging broken wires is such a time consuming job! 10:00 - tools out, start work. Started but removing the oil cooler, and poping the dizzy out. 10:45 - popped dizzy out and went to find a bolt for the dizzy drive... Couldn't find one long enough, but found that a certain exhaust clamp works This is now my dizzy drive fitting/removing tool 11:30 - finally fitted the dizzy drive after getting the engine into the right posstion to get it all right... Couldn't see my timing mark on the crankpully, so it was out with a small mirror and looking at the flywheel for the flywheel markings. 12:30 - dizzy back in, but have no spark So Voltmetre out, and tracing wires back.. 14:30 - finially finished rewiring the ingniton system, and have a good spark once again. 15:00 - alined my exhaust up and fitted a HIF38 (as I know it works) 16:00 - span the engine over with no plugs in to get the fuel up into the reg/filter 16:15 - tryes tunring it over, had a backfire which means to me that the timing was out, so once again, out with the mirror and looking at the flywheel... finialy get to TDC and marked the pully too. found I put the leads in 1 posstion out... so moved them all along one... 16:30 - turns engine over, a short cough and splutter later, and Flubber is ALIVE!!!!17:00 - heard and rather funny nasty noise and spotted and oil leak coimg from the timing cover Found the noise was the chain rattling against the cover... 18:00 - all apart waiting for a new gasket, and timing cover seal - as now its off, I recently found a timing cover with a breather, so going to restore that and fit it.... So it current state.... Sat in wait now... But for now, I am over the moon it runs - ok now as smooth as one would like, but I haven't finished setting up etc yet, and I also need to fit a HIF44, once I find out what needle is ideal... but other than that, hopefully next week, I can fit the new carb, and get it up to my mate for stobing and static tuning, to which I will then run it in for 500 miles, and wack it onto Aldon's rollers

Good work Dog. Glad to hear the motor is now running. Shame about the leaky timing cover. Easily sorted though.

But anyways, after faffing about with the sodding thing for ages, I decided to refit the HIF38... Set up the timing at 4degrees, and resealed the timing cover. I also changed the coils over back to my hi-proformace lucus one, as my HT lead wasn't liking the hellfruads replacement. Within a few turns, and a drop of petrol into the mouth of the carb.... it burst into life Tick over was about 2000rpm, to which at the time I had no idea why... adjusted the screws etc, to no prevail Then I just pushed the throttle lever down, and the cable sliped slightly, and it started ticking over normally So that problem was easy... a too tight of cable :shy: Once that was done, a slight twist of the dizzy to bring it a nice rpm, and making it sound sweet.... Now it was running, I left it tick over, at 2000rpm to bed the cam in, while I had eyes like a hawk checking for leaks and mysterious noises... thankfully none were found Also, I actually managed to have time to check the clutch, and oil pressure... depressed the clutch, all fine... selected gear super smooth I am extreamly happy that it works, for some reason I had a nightmare of a thought, I'd have to strip it all again cos the clutch was binding up... as for the oil pressure... 90psi removing the oil cooler was a good idea after all Once all the enginey bits were done, I set about getting all the tirm refitted... got it done, but need to do some wiring now this I am going to leave for tomorrow... I am cold, wet, and have a sticking headache But with that, I'll leave with a possative... a Video of flubber running, and how he looks ciurrently

8-)Nice one Dog old boy. At least now the motor is running you can tinker with it. Strange "ALL" the HIF 44s are Donald Ducked. Do you know what cars / engines they came off.??

I think there all off Minis... No idea, there just some I've been collecting... one has been rather modified too, as in knife edged butter fly etc - Vizard style... But I'll take one to work with me, and get myself a rebuild it, and spend sometime stripping and inspecting each compoant... so hopefully, I can be up and running with the proper carb soon, as I know for a fact I've gone over the power limit for the HIF38, and my engine will ne strangled by it. But like people say, least its going now... and a few top secret pictures

ABS Motorsport. Cost me a fair bit for what it is... but I love it Just got to set about trimming and fitting it nooow With a bit of luck, it'll fitted in time for Malvern, but don't hold your breath... I can't wait to actually drive it now... Ok next task... Wiring Got no indcaters... one headlight, and one sidelight (different sides), no washer - if fact the washer unit itself got red hot today, so I think its shorting out somewhere... Might see if I can get my new rear wiring loom in too, as I've taken the headlining out, ready for my new one. Other than that, I need to clean my carpet, give all a polish and clean up on the inside, take all my tools out and the inside is ready for use again. Only thing I need to do after the above is done, is either get my one wheel tubed, or look at fitting my wellers. If the wellers have to go on, then I need to fit my arches... unless I just take to to Malvern, a little bit illgeal

Its a nice feeling knwoing it all coming together... Got my rear lights working all proper... tonight... only thing thats no working for a realyl weird reason is my brake lights... Anyone got any idea to why my brake lights aren't working? Also, I decided to go for a test run tonight, only litrally down the block.. Heard a really "Wheels loose" noise... got out check, was all fine... got worse n worse... then suddenly, bang, I hit the deck... and my front drivers wheel carried on...... Got out onlt to find, the centre of the wheel was still on the hub, and the wheel had actually come apart!!! Thankfully, the centre was still on, so saved my caliper and disk, but my god, you've never seen me change a wheel so fast in all my life - application form for F1 pitcrew is in the post!! Its not an ideal place stuck in the middle of the road.... But anyways, booked Flubber in to have his tracking done, and get his new wellies fitted to my wellers.. £45 all in!! Not a bad price is you ask me! So tomorrow, he'll hopfully be sprting a set of 10x6 wellers... and maybe some W+P arches...

Re the brake lights, Have you checked the brake switch on the front subframe, the one under the flywheel housing.

Yep, thats new - fI replaced it when I did the rebuild. Check the connections going into the unit. They usually get knocked about when the motah is hoicked in and out.
