Just got in from taking the battery off to put it on charge. I'm so sick of that starter handle now The nosy neighbor was stood on his front door step watching me. He didn't see us pull up so it must have been killing him to know what was under the cover ;D ;D ;D If my Clio was "a pile of rust" I'm so want him to tell me what he thinks of the moggy. So I can in turn tell him where to go ;D ;D

That's a proper car if it's got a starting handle. Well tidy Tim.

The brakes are what I'd call 'interesting' ;D ;D I didn't know the brakes had minds of their own . I put my foot on the brakes and it seems to think "oh shall I brake?" then it decides it wants to ;D ;D

Well come on tellus more about your eventful first drive ;D I'm saying nowt but that it was eventful So after my last post I drove him home and all seemed fine ;D Parked up for a few minutes and checked for drippers from the engine and there were a few spots (surprise surprise). A look under the bonnet showed the rocker cover gasket to be the culprit. So we (me and MiNi2iFiNiTi who always promises he's not gonna get oily but can't help but get involved ) changed that and it appears to be a lot better. Then we looked underneath the rear of the car . Don't know why but I'm glad we did to find out the rear-axle had leaked a pool of oil. A closer inspection showed that there was a crack in the axle But never fear chemical metal is here . It'll do for a temporary fix until I can find someone to sort welding the crack up. Still leaks a tiny bit. Plan is to jack the car up tomorrow and take the near side rear wheel off and inspect the small section of the axle that is the wheel side of the leaf spring and seal it up if necessary. He looked so nice parked up. Drive him and the problems appear. All part of the fun I'm told ;D Oh yeah. Me and M2I took a trip to Barry Island this evening too . Driving home was the first time I drove all on my own and also the first time I drove in the dark (my headlights are as effective as candles : . But I survived ;D ;D ;D

'we'? ;D ;D ;D ;D I seem to remember my hands being the only ones that were getting burnt and covered in engine oil ;D ;D ;D I love busting chops!

I was underneath the car looking at the rear-axle. All I could here from up front were phrases along the lines of "agh @#$% that's hot"

Ahh. The joys of classic car ownership. Keep an eagle eye on that axle though. No more handbrake turns for a while. ;D
