hello all! i noticed there wasnt a thread for my mini so i thought i would make one as im hopign to do alot this summer to the car. recently weve put the new exhaust on and changed the head gasket.
here a few old pics of the car
this pic is when i first got the car. since its had the big fog lights taken off a they didnt suit it to look at it in person. they were far to big.

i changed the mirrors as when it went for a mot they failed them becasue it wasnt that easy to see the passenger mirror.



it used to have bold looking stickers on it which i soon changed... but will need to come off again lol



the last owner had decided to paint everything wtih silver instead ... but i also changed that



The disaster dash area... the last owner decided itd be a good idea to put the speedo in the middle , even thoguh in the pcik it looks decentish it really wasnt. so at the moment i had to rip the carpet out hed put in and then move the speedos to the steerign wheel. i had to buy new speedos as the ones in the car didnt work right.
so this is what it did look like


and as a final pic for now this was my mini at the tyre place the other weekend ...



i know they arent very good pics and alot of them are old ones but i will update with new pics now as ive goign to have alot done.
i plan on having my dash sorted next weekend
and then the radiator will need to be chsnged as it has a small hole in it which seems to mess up the car for some reason.
ill be going to st davids in june so that will be a little journey for the mini....
then when i get back i plan on handing the mini in to the welder to have all the welding needed and have all the rust spots sorted.
the front of my car doesnt look minish becasue all the lines have been filled with filler.... and im considering getting a new frotn panel as thats rotted at the bottom.. and then once put with the wings which i think are ok to keet itll look like a really front end with lines again lol. can anyone give suggestions about that?
once that is done ill sort out a few things in the engine that prob will need looking at.
then finally the car will be gign to the resprayer and itll be sprayed one shade of red instead of two lol
then fit the little bits n bobs outside and a new carpet and boot set!

ill think of the rest at another time.

if anyone can suggest things please do. ill put pics up as i go along.

That's always the problem when you get a new Mini and whatever the previous owner has done to it, usually needs "undoing" until you get it the way you want it to look.
Can't believe the way the clocks had been put in though.
They would be nigh on impossible to see whilst driving.
If You're going to put a new front panel on and clean the filler off the wings, (hoping the wings are ok) the "lines" will reappear all on their own once all the panels are welded back on.
Keep us posted of the progress Danni.

thanks dai , it was impossible to see anything on the speedo when driving.i had to ask who ever was sitting in the passenger side to have a look lol!
has anyone got any ideas as to what i can use to clean this black stuff out on everywhere this guy has spreayed it , its all in the boot and the rear bins! its waxoseal ? i think thats what he said it was... apperently to protect it.....

Try White spirits first.
If that Does'nt work try some cellulose thinners.
Watch the fumes though. It's fairly potent stuff, so try not to breathe the fumes in.

Hammerite thinners might work too, but the fumes will be a problem with that as well, its gonna be a messy job whichever way you do it!

yeah i tried abit of like degreaser earlier , it was taking i of but its so thick it would take too long.... atleast i know there is red paint in the boot lol...will have to try some thinners!

I wouldn't have thought so, because the paint is "very" cured by now.
Try an area where the cleaning Won't be noticeable first.

well i guess the boot wouldnt matter as i could just spray it myself thinking about it ? it sjust that stuff is gettin on everything and the spare tyres stuck to it like everything else is.

While you're in the "RAD" area it might be prudent to check the top and bottom hoses. Just in case.

already got that sorted dai ! bought a bottome hose when i got the rad.. and the top hose is new

and dont worry corina itll be sorted ill make sure of it ! otherwise ill be pushing it there ! wont be missing the birthday cake! or the show

tell me o buzz of if you want but when i take the rad out i leave the bottom hose on the rad and just disconect it from the water pump and heater hose then pull rad out with bottom hose still attached them remove it when its out a lot easier to get to. put mine back in today thats about the fith time its been in and out since i,ve had the car and thats only a couple of months.

ok so the rad and bottom hose has now been changed. BUT... the tempature sender has now stopped working wierdly?
also the water pump isnt working , im hoping to get these this week , i have no idea where n how. but apperently its quick to fix those. and i REALLY need them done for bristol? as its not a good idea to drive it there like that ?
ill be there anyways cause i KNOW ill have it sorted i just dont want last minute panics.

Check that you haven't removed or pulled off the spade connector on the temp sender on the front of the head under the thermostst housing and that the wire going to it isn't damaged or broken

Why do you think your waterpump has stopped working?

You have put the fan belt back on haven't you !!!!!
