i have come stuck with my project and need some help. from this picture as a reference the problem is that the whole front end seems to be an inch to the passenger side more than the drivers side. main problem beeing that the bonnet doesnt fit properly ie wont go through the latch and second if i forse it in there is no gap between the bonnet and the wing. o jsut so you knwo i havent welded anything yet so dont pannick about that yet its only bolted to the subframe by the tear drop mounts on the front which were brand new. could it be subframe mounts as there is a lot of movement in them at the top or any othe ideas are welcome as i need this to be done right other wise i could live with it . also managed to fit one of the tie bar bushes ran out of time in the end. also a better pic of the dash as neew camera arrived and the last wasnt good

I've got a sneaking suspicion that your front subframe may have been damaged in someway when it had the bump. I can recall you saying before that the wheel centres front to back were different lengths. Do a quick check of the front subframe alignment by looking vertically down the front of the bulkhead crossmember and visually check to see if you can see equal amounts of both turrets of the front subframe. Have a check of both front toeboards in the area where the rear mounts of the front subframe attach to. If there is any creasing of the bodywork in this area that is a good sign that the subframe has been knocked backwards when it had the bump. You could also undo the tower bolts to check if they are central with the hole in the top of the crossmember.

Well I did measure the suby in an x shape to see if it was square the bump was very light as it was on on the starter motor guy left it in gear and it jumped forward. And it's not the bonnet as you can seen the front panel is off senator to the passenger side by an inch might try and get some pics

You never know if there is some left over damage from a previous front end "bump" thats causing the problem tho Sounds like a subframe missalignment is the issue to me.

What brand front panel is it?
I once had a scuttle that was an inch and a half too wide for the car, there are some terrible knock offs about...

The mini we use as a dummy for the 16v builds has a a front end made from them and the fit is terrible but I don't know if that's down to the panel or the person that fitted them You really need to get the subframe mounted square and solid before you fit panels
